Housing Assessments (SIL and SDA)

Our occupational therapists conduct housing assessments to support Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) applications. We assess your daily living abilities, housing needs, and personal goals to recommend the right support plan and environment.

We work closely with you, your family, and your support network to ensure our recommendations are practical and person-centred.

SIL Assessments

A Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessment helps determine the level of support you need to live independently in your own home. This may include:

  • Evaluating physical, cognitive, and emotional capacity for daily tasks
  • Identifying goals for living arrangements and community participation
  • Recommending assistive technology, home modifications, or other supports

SDA Assessments

A Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) assessment supports individuals with very high support needs to access purpose-built or modified housing. This includes:

  • Assessing disability-related housing requirements
  • Identifying safety, access, and environmental needs
  • Recommending features, layout, and technology for independence
